COMMERCIAL BUILDING FIRE IN THE BOROUGH
January 15, 2010. At 15:44 hours units from Waynesboro along with assistance from Mont Alto, Leitersburg, Blue Ridge, and New Franklin were dispatched to a reported vehicles on fire inside a commercial building. Tower 2 along with Engine 2-1 arrived at 100 East Sixth Street to find several vehicles on fire along with recycled materials inside Tri-State Recycling. Suppression crews started an interior attack while Tower 2 started ventilation. Truck 17 also assisted with ventilation. After knocking down the bulk of the fire, crews discovered magnesium metals also on fire and requested dry chemical extinguishers. A crash foam truck from Raven Rock was requested to cover the recycled materials and vehicles with foam. Transfer units from Smithsburg, Long Meadow, and Fountaindale stood by for Waynesboro at the South Potomac Street Station. All units were cleared by 17:38 hours. An employee who was using a saw accidentally set materials on fire to start the blaze. No employees were injured and one firefighter was sent to the hospital and treated and released for a sprained ankle. t

TOTAL LOSS ON BARN FIRE
December 29, 2009. Heavy winds and cold temperatures hampered firefighters while trying to save a barn from flames at 11:25 hours at 6374 Nunnery Road. Company 2 units arrived on scene to find a fully involved barn with exposures of a garage and house. The 60' X 80' one hundred year old barn was beyond saving and crews concentrated on protecting exposures. Units from Mont Alto, New Franklin, Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue, Greencastle, Leitersburg, Fountaindale, Friendship, and Marion assisted with the Quincy Township barn located next to Paul's Country Market. Water was shuttled from a hydrant on Wayne Highway and a draft site was set up from the creek across Wayne Highway. The barn and contents which included a tractor, brush hog, hay, about 50 chickens and a goat who was soon to deliver were lost. The nearby garage sustained minor damage along with a John Deere mower that was stored inside. A shed containing bee hives was saved and the hives were relocated to another location. Vinyl siding on the house melted along with several windows that cracked from the radiant heat. Transfer units from Washington County included Long Meadow, Smithsburg, and Halfway. The last units cleared at 14:20 hours.

TWO ALARM DWELLING FIRE IN THE BOROUGH
December 18, 2009. At 10:17 Company 2 along with single engines from Mont Alto and Leitersburg were dispatched to 32 Cleveland Avenue for a reported mattress fire in the dwelling. Tower 2 and Engine 2-1 arrived on scene and reported a working dwelling fire on the second floor. With exposure problems of a duplex at 34 Cleveland a second alarm assignment was requested. Tower 2 began fire attack from side alpha of the structure and prepared to ventilate the roof. Engine 2-1 had water supply and Engine 2-2 set up a water supply and attack lines to the rear of the structure. Crews from Mont Alto, Leitersburg, Smithsburg, Greencastle, Blue Ridge, New Franklin, Fountaindale, and Air 10 assisted with fire suppression, salvage and overhaul, ventilation, water supply and supporting services. Transfer crews from South Mountain, Long Meadow, and Emmitsburg stood by at the Potomac Street Station. A family of five was displaced by the fire and were assisted by the local Red Cross. A large aquarium was relocated to the True Value store on Third Street who offered their service to the victims of the fire. All units cleared the scene at 12:50 hours.

FREDERICK COUNTY HOUSE FIRE
December 8, 2009. Tower 2 along with Engine Tanker 2 responded mutual aid to Wolfesville in Frederick County at 03:54 hours. Tower 2 performed suppression, ventilation, and salvage and overhaul at the 15004 Foxville Deerfield Road two alarm fire. Engine Tanker 2 staged at the water supply site and returned to service while Tower 2 remained on the scene and returned to service at 0703 hours.

FATAL ACCIDENT ON FIVE FORKS ROAD
December 4, 2009. At 14:33 hours the Waynesboro Fire Department was dispatched to 10667 Five Forks Road in Quincy Township for a reported vehicle accident with entrapment. Squad 2 and Engine 2-1 arrived on scene at 14:40 hours to find a male driver entrapped in a Toyota auto. Crews used the Hurst hydraulic tools to free the patient who was trapped by the dash of the vehicle. The patient was transported to Washington County Hospital and then transferred to Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he later died. One other patient in the Toyota was transported to the hospital. Two passengers of the other vehicle refused treatment at the scene. Company 2 was assisted by a crew from the Mont Alto Fire Company. Units cleared at 15:45 hours.

VEHICLE OVER EMBANKMENT
December 1, 2009. Squad 2 and Engine 2-1 responded at 18:09 hours to assist Blue Ridge Fire and Rescue at a single vehicle accident reported over the embankment with driver still in the vehicle. Vehicle was in the water at the intersection of Buchanan Trail East and Midvale Road. Crews assisted with patient extrication, lighting, traffic control and placing haz mat booms as a precaution in the stream. Units cleared at 19:34 hours.

ASSIST ON THE AUTO ACCIDENT
NOVEMBER 25, 2009. At 18:09 hours Squad 2 was dispatched to assist on the vehicle accident at the intersection of Buchanan Trail East and Fort Ritchie Access Road in box 4-1. Squad 2's crew assisted EMS with patient care, lighting, and clean up of vehicle fluids. Squad 2 cleared the scene at 19:21.

CHIMNEY FIRE WITH EXTENSION
November 19, 2009. Tower 2 and Engine Tanker 2 responded at 13:26 hours to assist South Mountain with a structure fire as a result of fire extending from a chimney. Co. 2 units assisted with roof operations and ventilation at the 3338 Day Hollow incident. Units cleared from the incident at 15:02 hours.

WORKING BARN FIRE WITH MONT ALTO
November 16, 2009. At 23:05 hours Company 2 was dispatched to assist Mont Alto with a working barn fire at 6537 Barkdoll Lane. Tower 2 set up master stream operations while Squad 2 provided lighting. Engine 2-1, Engine 2-2 and Engine Tanker 2 assisted with the water supply operations. Units cleared the Quincy Township fire at 02:47 hours.

COMPANY 5 BUSY WITH ANOTHER WORKING FIRE
NOVEMBER 12, 2009. 6769 Anthony Highway was the scene of the second working building fire for Mont Alto Fire Company within 3 days. Waynesboro assisted with the heavily involved fire with Engine 2-1, Engine Tanker 2, and Squad 2. Units were dispatched at 21:39 hours and assisted with water supply, fire attack and overhaul. Leitersburg transferred to answer any calls for Company 2. Units cleared at 00:02 hours. e
ASSIST MONT ALTO WITH COMMERCIAL BUILDING FIRE
NOVEMBER 10, 2009. At 07:38 hours Engine 2-1, Engine Tanker 2, and Squad 2 responded to 8673 Wayne Road to assist Company 5 with a working fire at Fortney's Upholstery. Units assisted with fire attack and laddering the structure. Company 2 cleared the Quincy Township incident at 08:56 hours

VEHICLE ACCIDENT AT INTERSECTION OF ANTHONY HIGHWAY AND TOMSTOWN ROAD
NOVEMBER 6, 2009. This intersection was once again the scene of another vehicle accident with injuries. Squad 2 and Engine 2-1 responded to the 18:28 incident requiring a door pop to free one confined patient. Units cleared at 19:19 hours.
PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT IN THE BORO
NOVEMBER 6, 2009. At 14:46 hours Company 2 was dispatched to the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and East Second Street for a multiple pedestrian accident. Engine 2-1 arrived on the scene to find several pedestrians and two vehicles involved. Squad 2 assisted along with ambulances from Waynesboro, Blue Ridge, Mont Alto, Smithsburg and Medic 2. Four patients were transported by ambulance to the hospital and one serious patient was air-lifted to Hershey Medical Center. All units cleared at 16:44 hours.

WORKING DWELLING FIRE WITH ENTRAPMENT
OCTOBER 22, 2009. A resident along with her pet dogs were rescued from the porch roof at the rear of her residence at 14596 Wayne Highway South in Washington Township. The working fire was dispatched at 02:19 hours and brought crews and appartus from Waynesboro, Leitersburg, Smithsburg, Greencastle, Mont Alto, Long Meadow and Blue Ridge Mountain. Crews encountered heavy fire on the first floor and brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes after the rescue. Extensive salvage and overhaul along with ventilation was performed on the 2 alarm fire. The occupant was treated at the scene by the Waynesboro Ambulance Squad and Medic 2 and transported to the Waynesboro Hospital. The resident suffered only minor injuries and was released from the hospital later that day. Neighboring residents heard the woman's screams for help and after investigating notified a nearby Washington Police officer who notified Franklin County Communication. An air unit and rehab unit from Washington County assisted firefighters on the scene. All units cleared at 05:52 hours.
ANOTHER VEHICLE ACCIDENT AT INTERSECTION
October 20, 2009. The intersection of Anthony Highway and Orchard Road, the scene of many crashes over the years brought Squad 2 and Engine 2-1 to another 2 vehicle accident with injuries to the 13:15 hours dispatch. Crews assisted with EMS care and fluid spill clean up. Units returned to service at 13:51 hours.

AUTOMATIC ALARM AT WAYNESBORO FLOOR COVERING
October 17, 2009. At 23:41 hours Company 2 was dispatched to 24 North Church Street for a reported automatic alarm. After investigating crews found burnt food on the stove in a third floor apartment created the alarm. Negative pressure ventilation was used to clear smoke from the unit. All apparatus cleared at 00:14 hours.
ASSIST FAYETTEVILLE WITH DWELLING FIRE
October 17, 2009. Engine 2-1 enroute to a transfer assignment at New Franklin were diverted to assist on the dwelling fire on Hillendale Drive in Fayetteville at 12:21 hours. Engine 2-1 assisted with water supply at the scene before returning to the transfer assignment to Co. 17. Engine 2-1 cleared the final transfer assignment at 15:01 hours.
WAYNE HIGHWAY ACCIDENT
October 15, 2009. Engine 2-1 along with Squad 2 responded to 9525 Wayne Highway at 10:16 hours to find tractor trailer versus auto accident. One patient had to be extricated from the vehicle because of entanglement under the dash of the patients feet. Engine 5-1 from Mont Alto was dispatched for manpower to assist with the extrication. Units cleared at 12:30 hours.
10591 ANTHONY HIGHWAY VEHICLE ACCIDENT
October 14, 2009. A two vehicle accident resulted in both vehicles ending up on their sides. Squad 2 and Engine 2-1 along with Co. 2 Fire Police responded at 08:16 to the accident with injuries. One confined patient had to be freed from the one vehicle. Units returned to service at 09:17 hours.
ASSIST MONT ALTO ON DWELLING FIRE
October 7, 2009. Company 2 was dispatched at 05:39 hours to 4791 Yohe Road in Quincy Township to assist on the dwelling fire. Crews of Engine 2-2 and Engine Tanker 2 assisted with water supply and the fire attack. Units returned at 08:42 hours. The dwelling sustained heavy damage.

TRUCKS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT
October 5, 2009. A rear end collision of a box truck into the rear of a semi tractor trailer at 08:09 brought response from Engine 2-1 and Squad 2. The accident at 6150 Buchanan Trail East resulted in 1 injury and a large fluid spill. Crews assisted EMS and cleaned up the fluid from the highway. Waynesboro Fire Police along with the Waynesboro Ambulance Squad assisted on the scene. Units cleared at 09:30.
ASSIST ON THE BARN FIRE
September 13, 2009. At 9:55 AM Co. 2 was dispatched to assist Greencastle on a reported barn fire at 3565 Barr Road. Engine 2-2 and Tower 2 arrived on scene to find a heavily involved working barn fire. Engine 2-2 protected exposures with a 1 3/4 inch line and placed a 2 1/2 inch line in service for suppression of the fire. Units cleared the Antrim Township call at 13:32 hours.

PUMP HOUSE FIRE
August 19, 2009- At 08:06 Company 2 along with Engine Tanker 5 were dispatched to 10434 Five Forks Road for a reported shed fire. Responding units arrived on scene to find a pump house on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by Engine 2-1. Responding units included: Engine 2-1, Tower 2, Engine Tanker 2, Squad 2, Engine Tanker 5, and Ambulance 2-7. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical. Company 2 returned to service at 08:58.
